Queen City Pop-Up “Spring Edition”

Mayor Byron W. Brown, Buffalo Urban Development Corporation, Buffalo Place and Working for Downtown are encouraging the Western New York retail community to submit proposals to the Queen City Pop-Up Project. This initiative is designed to encourage retail activity along Main Street by creating new “pop-up” shops that feature local retailers. The winners of the Queen City Pop-Up Project will receive free rent in a select retail location from May 1, 2015 – June 30, 2015.

April 1 – 500 Seneca Street Project

The development team behind the repurposing of 500 Seneca Street have doubled the number of planned apartments and signed a distillery to occupy part of the complex. Savarino Companies and Frontier Group of Companies are redeveloping what was originally the F.N. Burt Company box manufacturing plant and later used by New Era Cap Co. into a mixed use complex. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic places and the project is utilizing historic preservation tax credits.

After nearly three years of hard work and planning, it’s time to celebrate our accomplishments while also looking to the future. One Region Forward will be releasing its Regional Plan for Sustainable Development, entitled “A New Way to Plan for Buffalo Niagara.”

The plan explores ideas and potential strategies to align our actions to our values, providing a basic framework for moving the region towards a more sustainable, resilient, prosperous  and opportunity-rich future.
