From Buffalo Rising:

By Atsuko Nishida-Mitchell:

In the late-winter, dreaming about pink splashes of color popping out from our cherry tree grove in the Japanese Garden near the Buffalo History Museum is easy to do. So why not dream this weekend at Martin Cooks?

Join the Friends of the Japanese Garden, sponsors of the First Annual Buffalo Cherry Blossom Festival, in collaboration with the Buffalo History Museum and The Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy at a fundraising party being held at Martin Cooks Restaurant at 346 Connecticut Street (the former Horsefeathers) on Sunday, February 9th from 3-6pm. Stop by and enjoy some of Martin’s delicious food, drinks and then bid on one of the many silent auction items.

Many one-of-a-kind art pieces created especially for the Cherry Blossom Festival will be on display and auctioned. Several Japanese scrolls donated by calligrapher Tsuyoshi Takemori, will be auctioned to raise funds. Local artist Junko McGee, has designed and created Japanese bowls and limited edition cherry blossom bowls for the event, Commemorative Cherry Blossom Prints designed by Michael Morgulis will be auctioned, photos by Trudy Stern and more will be at the Silent auction. There will even be a commissioned tea bowl and VIP seating at the opening tea ceremony of the Cherry Blossom Festival on April 23 at the History Museum as well. See you at a Mid-Winter Party to support the First Annual Buffalo Cherry Blossom Festival.

Suggested donation at the door is $30 per person | www.buffalocherryblossomfestival.com
