The history of lighthouses in Western New York extends far back into colonial days. The promenade is a product of the Buffalo Lighthouse Association and the city’s efforts to preserve and interpret the 1833 Buffalo Lighthouse – Buffalo’s oldest building still standing on its original foundation. Tour on National Lighthouse Day!
Directions To The Buffalo Lighthouse:
Fuhrmann Boulevard is 1-way going south on the west side of Hwy 5 and 1-way going north on the east side of Hwy 5. Going south make a u-turn under Hwy 5, go north on Fuhrmann for approx ½ mile, turn left under Hwy 5, & right on Fuhrmann which will take you to the Coast Guard Station and the lighthouse. Going north, continue north on Fuhrmann for just over a 1/2 mile then turn left under Hwy 5, and right on Fuhrmann which will take you to the Coast Guard Station and the lighthouse. To the right of the gate for the Coast Guard stations is an opening in the fence that permits access to the park and the paved path that leads to the lighthouse. There is parking along Fuhrmann.
