Join Working For Downtown for a tour of the Buffalo Water Authority Pumping Station. We will see how the water filtration process works and hear about the history of the steamers.
In the early 1900s colossal five story high, 60-foot steam pumps delivered water to the City of Buffalo. They were eventually replaced by smaller, but very powerful electric pumps, which are still in use. These mammoth steam pumps still sit alongside their smaller replacements and have attracted attention from pump and steam engine enthusiasts.
