Elaine received the Member Recognition Award with her thanks.
The Joan K. Bozer Award was presented to Matthew W. Meier, AIA of Hamilton Houston Lownie Architects. Matt was recognized for his involvement in R/UDAT, among other projects. Matt pointed out the irony that it takes outsiders to bring awareness to the assets we have.
Jake then recognized Sarah with a gift in recognition of her role as President.
The Fernbach Award was given to Chris Jacobs of Avalon Development. Chris reviewed the Bison Fund and some projects he is working on. He thanked WFD for its work in helping change the perception of downtown which he says is on the "cusp."
Jake presented our first Cornerstone Award to M & T Bank in recognition of their monetary, manpower and community support. Keith Belanger accepted on behalf of M & T, recognizing Terri as Chair for her work and the participation of M & T employees in WFD.
Gerri Kozlowski, Co-Chair, introduced Congressman Brian Higgins who gave the keynote address. He recognized the importance of a strong downtown core and M & T Bank's impact on the area. His platform includes revitalization of economically dormant areas and taking advantage of assets unique to our community. After a question and answer period, he ended his remarks at 1:20 p.m.
Incoming President Carolyn Murray closed the meeting at 1:21 p.m., with a "thank you" to everyone for their attendance.
Respectfully Submitted,
