Founded in 1994, Explore & More Children’s Museum makes every day a play date in our Educational Play Zones—exhibits that introduce children to the magic of hands-on discovery. Michelle Urbanczyk (CEO) will discuss Explore & More’s move to Canalside from their previous location in East Aurora, the success of their capital campaign, and what their new location means to their mission and to the programs and services they will be able to provide.
Join us for a unique mash-up of a Buffalo Talk AND Walk on December 5th! We will hold this month’s Buffalo Talk at the historic Shea’s Seneca location (NOT the library). Join us to learn about this repurposed gem in South Buffalo at 2178 Seneca Street. Schneider Development Services has created a multi-use building out of the former theatre. We will hear directly from Jake Schneider about the process and then he will give us a tour of the building. Hope to see you there!

Besides cash awards, the winners receive mentorship, 12 months of free incubator space, marketing exposure, and freedom from New York State Taxes for 10 years. In the first four years 37 projects have been awarded funds. Come hear Bill Maggio tell us about the history of the program and where it is going after five years.

In Buffalo, wildlife is reclaiming an unused rail corridor. For a mile and a half, through the First Ward, the Valley, and the Perry Neighborhood, this land connects the DL&W Terminal in downtown Buffalo near Canalside to the Buffalo River across from Solar City. Since the fall of 2017, the Western New York Land Conservancy has been meeting with neighbors and community leaders to start a conversation about creating an inspiring and environmentally-friendly linear park and multi-use trail along this rail corridor. Come listen to Alicia Fahrner from the Land Conservancy fill us in on where this initiative is currently.
